Project : Women Build Short Description: Fitch Ave, New London - New Construction Description: New Construction on a house on Fitch Ave. New London This home is sponsored by First Congregational Church of Old Lyme in honor of Shirley Williams. Please bring your own lunch and come in appropriate work sight attire including closed toed shoes, clothes that you wouldn't mind getting damaged and the desire to make a difference. We recommend that you dress in layers to accommodate for the weather and work to be done. Bringing your own reusable water bottle and coffee cup will help us to limit the amount of waste that is created on the Build site and help the environment. We are working on the construction phase of the project presently. This can involve framing, roofing, sub flooring, hanging blue board (the material that goes under the siding), sheet rocking, mudding, taping and much more. The morning of your Build Day please remember to call 860-442-7890 then press 5. This will have up to date information about the build including if the day will need to be changed or canceled. Changes and cancellations can happen based on weather or unanticipated changes in construction needs. If you sign up for the photographer shift please take photos while you are at site and then e-mail them to volunteer relations (volunteer@habitatsect.org) or drop/mail them on a disc to the Habitat Office (377 Broad Street New London CT 06320. Please remember that whatever your role is you are still on a construction site and should be careful and follow all safety precautions no matter what you are doing. You will only be permitted to do construction if you are also signed up for construction and can be there for the entire construction shift. Before you are permitted to begin volunteering in any capacity you must take the Foundations of Habitat Class.
