Project : Red Team
Short Description: Receiving
Description: NEW volunteers need to attend a New Volunteer Orientation prior to volunteering at the store. Please return to the calendar screen and sign up under "Orientation".

RED TEAM: Receiving Area
All of our donations are processed in the receiving area, as a Red Team volunteer you will work under our Receiving Assistant and/or Receiving Coordinator. You will greet donors and assist them with unloading donations. Once the items have been sorted by the Receiving Coordinator or the Receiving Assistant you will inspect, clean and process large item donations. You will prepare items that will go to recycling. This will include separating cords and wires from fixtures, removing metal from lighting, doors, etc. Once items have been cleaned and processed for sale you will set them aside to be priced by an authorized pricing associate. When an item is priced and ready to go to our sales floor, you will work with a sales associate to place the items on the sales floor. Some tasks in this area will require you to lift up to 50 pounds. You may also be asked to test electronics to ensure they are working properly or to assist our drivers with picking up donations.

Please remember: it is everyone's responsibility to keep the ReStore safe, clean, and provide a great customer experience. This position is essential to our mission because we have a large donation base that must be cleaned and processed in order to be placed out for sale. Other duties may also be assigned. This means you may be assigned to another team. More information is available in our Volunteer Manual.

Please dress appropriately for the type of work you will be doing. Remember, we require all volunteers to wear clothing that covers the shoulder and armpit area, the mid-drift and cleavage, as well as shoes that cover the toes and heel. No sweat pants, workout pants, or basketball pants/shorts. Denim or khaki is acceptable.
