Project : 65 Gail Ct, CL
Short Description: New build
Description: Thank you for your willingness to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley! You are bringing the families one day closer to their move in date.

No Construction Experience Necessary - Just a Willing Heart

Volunteers must be 16 or older to volunteer on our job sites. Groups with minors 16 and/or 17 years old must have an adult chaperone 1 to every 3 minors.

Safety Prep: Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley takes safety very seriously. Safety is always an important consideration at our construction sites. Building construction can be dangerous—especially when inexperienced workers are involved. Your personal safety and the safety of your team must be considered at all times. Work Day Schedule:
8:15am - Arrive and Sign-In
8:30am - Volunteer Safety and Orientation
9:00am - Begin Working
12:00pm - Lunch Break
1:00pm - Resume Working
3:30pm - Clean-Up
4:00pm - End of Day
We ask that volunteers only sign-up for a build if they can stay for the entirety of the build day.

What To Bring: Volunteers should bring their own water bottle and sack lunch, unless other arrangements are made with your team. We do provide bottles of water on site to help keep hydrated throughout the day. Habitat provides all of the tools, but you are welcome to bring your own so long as they are clearly labeled with your name.

Dress Code: Dress weather appropriate, as you may be working on both interior and exterior projects, and all volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes to be on the work site. We recommend cargo pants, jeans, gym shoes, or work boots with short-sleeved shirts in the summer and lots of layers during the winter months. No yoga pants or spaghetti-strapped tank tops are allowed, as they do not offer the proper amount of skin protection.

Work to be Completed: All jobs are subject to change based on productivity of teams before you, number of volunteers per work day, and weather. Tasks are updated on VolunteerUP as an announcement at the top of the sign-up page two weeks prior to each build day, so if you do not see any potential projects listed when you register, please check back closer to your build day.

Cancellations & Updates: On build days that are weather dependent, volunteers will be notified via VolunteerUP and email by 7:30am if the build day has been cancelled. Each job site will be considered independently, with the decision of canceling determined by the Project Director responsible for said job site. Determination will be based on numerous items, including work scheduled for the day, forecast, current conditions, availability of non-weather dependent work, etc. The Project Director will contact the Volunteer & Outreach Manager by 7:15am to provide time for VolunteerUP to be updated and volunteers to be contacted. When possible, your team may be moved to another project, which will provide work that is non-weather dependent. Volunteers will not be moved to other sites if all other projects are full for the day.
